Jam Sessions and Live Music on Koh Phangan, Thailand
One of the things that surprises me about this small island is the large amount of entertainment that exists here. Music and the beach just seem to go together. Koh Phangan is, of course, famous for its Full Moon party scene but it also has an abundance of talented musicians, singers, and songwriters that call it home or regularly pass through. It’s a magical place for inspiration and much of that inspiration makes its way to the music scene.
Joining me on the beach is my friend Victoria from the music project, Painted With Tea to perform a jazzy version of Valerie.
Here are some venues where you can regularly find live music on Koh Phangan:
L’alcove is a French bistro sitting on Hin Kong beach. It’s a romantic restaurant situated with a great view of the sunset while you enjoy live music. Check with the restaurant for their live music schedule.
Freeway Bar is sitting on a magical beach on beautiful Hin Kong Bay. Most nights they spin a chill mix by a DJ but they also mix it up with live music events as well as some fire shows. Resident bamboo tattooing artist, Tip may even join in.
Green Gallery Restaurant is a shanti place with lots of space to chill and relax. They serve up amazing vegan food in a lovely laid-back atmosphere and often host eclectic music as well as open jam sessions. It’s a favorite of the conscious community.
Rasta Home is a great choice if you are looking for some Reggae. A live band performs once a week.
The Jam is the original live music venue of Koh Phangan. Bring your instrument.
L’acoustic is a fairly new beach bar and restaurant located on Ban Kai beach, and another great spot to enjoy the sunset with acoustic live music.
Saturn Bar and Restaurant is a great place to enjoy some Thai style and they have live music every day from 9pm until 2am.
